About the H&DLR
The H&DLR is a G Scale garden railway, mostly using LGB equipment, but the line also operates equipment from a number of other manufacturers. G Scale uses 45mm gauge track and a scale of 1:22.5 or thereabouts to represent narrow gauge trains. Some manufacturers use 1:20.3, and some models of standard gauge protoypes use a scale of 1:27 for European outline models (e.g. Piko and LGB), while others use 1:29 for models of (mainly) US prototypes. Locomotives on the H&DLR pick up power from the track in the conventional manner, although there are a couple of battery powered locomotives with radio control, and one live steam locomotive. Trains run all year round, and the track and buildings remain outside all the time. Rolling stock is kept indoors.
Operations on the H&DLR are loosely based on Austrian protoype practice, because I'm interested in Austrian narrow gauge railways.
