Locomotives of the H&DLR
The H&DLR has a small fleet of locomotives. Most are track powered, although three have on board batteries and one can be switched between track power and a battery van. The H&DLR also posseses a live steam locomotive, a Pearse "Europa" class engine "Camusterrach Pier".
The first locomotive was No. 2, Zillertal. This loco is an LGB model of the famous Austrian "U" class 0-6-2 tank engines, in the livery of the Zillertalbahn. The engine was purchased in 1986 and is still going strong. Originally converted to battery power in 1995, in 2005 it received new, higher power, batteries. Zillertal was the mainstay of the original line, hauling the final works trains on the old H&DLR, and hauled the first trains to operate on the new line.
